Black Lives Matter Movement

2013 - Present

This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal. - Toni Morisson

The Black Lives Matter Movement is one of the largest movements for Black Liberation seen. From its inception in 2013, this movement has found footing globally, with the rallying cries resonating with Black people across the diaspora. Artists such as Devin Allen have captured the work of activists on the ground in Baltimore, as they face the violence of police officers and the white supremacist state.
